Aldosterone and end-organ damage were the focus of a recent report. According to the report from the United States, "This review highlights recent clinical studies demonstrating; the contribution of aldosterone to cardiovascular mortality, dysfunction, and renal injury in the context of in our understanding of the molecular biology of aldosterone." N.J. Brown and colleagues of Vanderbilt University wrote, "Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonism reduces mortality in patients with congestive heart failure and following myocardial infarction.
