Preclinical research supports Ceflatonin in treatment of acute myeloid leukemia

ChemGenex Pharmaceuticals Limited announced the publication of preclinical research supporting the expansion of its clinical development of Ceflatonin to include treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients in addition to chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients. The paper, in the March 2006 issue of Molecular Cancer Therapeutics (Volume 5, Issue 3, pp 723-731), describes research performed in the laboratory of Dr. Jean-Pierre Marie of the Universite Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris which elaborates on the cellular mode of action of homoharringtonine, or "sHHT" (Ceflatonin) in AML patient cells.
