Adverse effects are associated with bone morphogenetic protein-2 use

According to recently published research from the United States, adverse effects are associated with high-dose recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) use in anterior cervical spine fusion. L.B.E. Shields and colleagues, University of Louisville, wrote that the study was undertaken as "a retrospective review of patients who underwent an anterior cervical fusion using rhBMP-2 with an absorbable collagen sponge (INFUSE; Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Minneapolis, MN)."
