Researchers' work adds to apoptosis body of knowledge

Apoptosis data are the focus of recent research from the United States and Italy.

Study 1: Recent research from the United States has reported that phorbol ester-induced apoptosis in prostate cancer cells involves protein kinase C (PKC) delta.

"It is well established that activation of PKC by phorbol esters promotes apoptosis in androgen-dependent prostate cancer cells. However, there is limited information regarding the cellular mechanisms involved in this effect," wrote A.M. Gonzalez-Guerrico and colleagues, University of Pennsylvania.
