Adult Bookstore Fined $2,500 For Selling "Obscene" Tape

An adult bookstore was fined $2,500 for selling a videotape that a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, jury decided was obscene.

The store is the first in Wisconsin to be found guilty by a jury under the state's obscenity law since it was rewritten in 1989, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Michael Skwierawski said September 5, 1997, the store, Super Video & Variety, of suburban West Allis, did not have to pay the fine until its appeal of the case is decided.
