Genital Edema in Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis

A recent case study suggests that patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis are at risk for genital edema.

The researchers noted that computed tomography and peritoneal scintigraphy are useful diagnostic tools in this situation.

P.G. Davidson et al. reported a case of a patient who presented with penile and scrotal edema ("The Importance of Peritoneal Imaging in the Workup of Genital Edema in Patients on Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis," Mount Sinai Journal of Medicine, March 1999;66(2):125-127).
