Saliken et al. assessed the effectiveness and safety of ultrasound (US)-guided cryotherapy as a primary treatment for localized prostate cancer ("Outcome and Safety of Transrectal US-Guided Percutaneous Cryotherapy for Localized Prostate Cancer," Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, February 1999;10(2 Part 1):199-208).
