Cord Blood America announces it is nearing collection of adipose tissue stem cells for future use

Cord Blood America, Inc. (CBAI) said that while Congress is busy debating the future of stem cell research, the company is moving forward in developing one of the nation's first private storage companies to collect adult stem cells from adipose tissue for future medical use. "We anticipate beginning this service in the fourth quarter of 2006," said Matthew Schissler, Cord Blood America chairman and CEO. Duke University scientists are among the many who have published studies suggesting that stem cells obtained from human fat tissues, from liposuction for example, are capable of being transformed into nerve cells that could be used to treat brain and spinal cord...
