Specialized CT scan protocols for planning THA provides more images

Adjusting computed tomography (CT) images for preoperative planning in total hip arthroplasty reduces the radiation exposure but lowers the accuracy of the bone geometry reconstruction, researchers say.

According to published research from Italy, "X-ray computer tomography (CT) provides an accurate source of information in orthopedics. Many computer-aided orthopedic surgery systems are based on CT images; thus, obtaining high-resolution images is important."
