Massachusetts state medical board disciplines eight doctors

A South Shore surgeon's license was suspended April 21, 2004, by the Massachusetts state Board of Registration in Medicine, which said he represented an "immediate and serious threat to the public health, safety and welfare."

Dr. Donald J. Greeley, a 1990 graduate of Chicago Medical School, University of Health Sciences, has been licensed in the state since 1992 and reported affiliations with South Shore Hospital and Quincy Hospitals.

The board alleged that Greeley failed to meet the standard of care in five cases, including four in which patients died, one in 1999, one in 2001, and twp earlier this month.
