Doctor, lawyer: Podiatrist keeps himself busy

Like many of their patients, Daniel Buck, MD, a podiatrist, and his wife, Marsha O'Rourke, MD, a general surgeon, grew frustrated with the healthcare system. So Buck decided to do something about it.

Since many of their problems involve the legal system, Buck went to law school and now trades his white lab coat for a dark business suit 2 days a week.

In doing so, Buck apparently joined a trend toward physicians getting dual degrees: a medical degree to help patients, and a law degree to help themselves.

Buck, 45, of Wayne, Maine, said he and his wife used to spend evenings complaining about the problems of the healthcare system....
