According to recent research published in the Head and Neck - Journal for the Sciences and Specialties of the Head and Neck, "Therapeutic decisions in recurrent oral and oropharyngeal squamous carcinoma remain controversial. Two hundred forty-six consecutive patients who underwent salvage surgery for recurrent squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the oral cavity and oropharynx were studied."
