HemCon Medical Technologies expands international presence to South Africa

HemCon Medical Technologies, Inc., a hemorrhage-control technology company, has received clearance by South Africa's Medicine's Control Council to distribute their bandages. HemCon products will be distributed in Africa by Mkhuseli Trauma Products, (Pty), Ltd.

HemCon's chitosan platform technology is most being used as the basis for their proprietary hemorrhage control bandage. This bandage, which the company states is in wide use by the U.S. Army, is capable of controlling severe arterial bleeding. HemCon's technology is also being applied towards: oral surgery dental dressings, advanced wound care, and over-the-counter applications.
