Reports outline bone research from St. Vincent's Hospital

New research, "Promontory drilling in stapedectomy: an anatomical study," is the subject of a report. According to recent research published in the journal Otology & Neurotology, "Anatomical variants such as an overhanging facial nerve or promontory can impede access to the footplate during stapedectomy. Drilling away bone from the cochlear promontory may be required."
