According to recent research from the United States, "'Holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet and potassium-titanyl-phosphate lasers make it possible to perform transurethral prostate resection with almost no absorption of irrigant and minimal blood loss. Subarachnoid block is usually administered for classical transurethral resection of the prostate, so that the patient can be monitored for the onset of transurethral resection of the prostate syndrome secondary to irrigant absorption."
