Veteran May Be Boise's First TB among Homeless

A military veteran in Boise, Idaho, may be that city's first reported case of TB among its homeless population, according to Jesse Greenblatt, an epidemiologist for the state of Idaho. He lived at a downtown rescue mission for the homeless.

The unidentified man was to be released from Veterans Affairs Medical Center and monitored by a case worker from the Central (Idaho) District Health Department, who will make sure he takes his medications. It will be weeks before health officials know if he is infected with a drug resistant strain.
