Houston High School Students Diagnosed with Active Tuberculosis

Three students at a Houston, Texas, high school have been diagnosed with active tuberculosis (TB) and are undergoing treatment for the disease, a city health department spokeswoman says.

Testing of students and staff at the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice began after the contagious disease was discovered in three students.

"We don't know if there's any relationship between the three cases," said Kathy Barton, spokeswoman for the city's Health and Human Services Department.

The first case at the school was diagnosed in late January 1995.
