Regulations Will Not Prevent Healthcare Job Injuries

Nursing home employees do risk job-related injuries, acknowledged the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) in response to a report and recommendations on staffing requirements and new regulations released by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

More regulations, however, will not solve the problem, said AAHSA.

"We have long advocated for adequate Medicare and Medicaid rates to support higher staffing levels," said Sheldon L. Goldberg, AAHSA president. "However, in reality, we are forced to care for increasingly frail people with ever-dwindling Medicare and Medicaid dollars."
