County health departments across the state logged 4,861 cases of TB in 1994, a 6 percent decrease from the 5,173 recorded in 1993. "California is making progress in its battle against tuberculosis," state health director Kim Belshe told the San Francisco Chronicle. "We are very encouraged by that."
