"Biosynthesis and Polymerization of Darabinose in Mycobacteria."

Published in TB and Outbreaks Week, May 15th, 1995

According to an abstract presented by the authors to the Molecular Mechanisms in Tuberculosis Keystone Symposium, held February 19-25, 1995, in Tamarron, Colorado, "D-Arabinose (ara) is a major sugar of mycobacteria since it is found in the cell wall arabinogalactans and arabinomannans of these organisms. D-ara is an unusual component of complex carbohydrates, and only occurs in mycobacteria and a few related bacteria, and in some lower eucaryotes. However, it is not found in humans.
