Resistance in HIV+ Stable in Malawi Despite General Increase

A lack of increase in drug resistance among HIV-positive tuberculosis (TB) patients in Malawi, despite an overall increase in TB incidence, is encouraging for TB control programs.

Recent World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations emphasize the importance of linking drug-resistance information with clinical information to distinguish between initial and acquired resistance and between HIV-positive and HIV-negative patients.
