New York State Researchers Aim to Unravel TB's Genetic Code

Researchers at a New York State research center are busily working on the assumption that unraveling TB's genetic code could allow the development of "smart" antibiotics, which could disarm the proteins that allow TB cells to evade attack by phagocytes.

Kathleen McDonough, a cell biologist at the New York Health Department's Wadsworth Center for Laboratories and Research in Albany, New York, studies the minute interactions between TB cells and their hosts.
