According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 95th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, held May 21-25, 1995, in Washington, D.C., "Due to re-emergence of tuberculosis, especially multi-drug resistant type, and high incidence of M. avium infection in AIDS patients, new and more effective antimycobacterial drugs are needed to treat these infections.
