TB Rate Up 7.8 Percent in 1994

The number of cases reported in Oregon increased by 7.8 percent from 1992 to 1994, according to figures released by the Oregon Health Division recently, but aggressive control efforts in some areas were paying off.

"Tuberculosis remains under control in Oregon," said Shane McDermott, executive director of the American Lung Association of Oregon, "but the increase in cases here mirrors what has happened nationwide over the past 10 years."
