According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 19th International Congress of Chemotherapy, held July 16-21, 1995, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, "The potentially deadly association between AIDS and tuberculosis represents an enormous public health problem of global dimensions which has been compounded by the emergence in the U S of strains of M. tuberculosis resistant to two, or more, frontline drugs.
