DOT Gaining Acceptance as Georgia Mulls Closing TB Hospital

In what was being touted as a money-saving move, the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) was set to debate closing of a regional TB treatment center in the state's northwestern city of Rome.

A proposal to close the center was drafted for discussion at the DHR board of directors meeting in mid- to late-August 1995. State healthcare planners reportedly were eyeing the successful Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) program in neighboring Mississippi, according to reports in the Rome News-Tribune.
