"'BACTEC-By-Mail' to Improve Turnaround Time for the Control of Tuberculosis."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 95th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, held May 21-25, 1995, in Washington, D.C., "In addition to the California Department of Health Services (CDHS) laboratories, there are a number of autonomous public health laboratories (PHL) with mycobacterial expertise serving counties, many of which do not have the workload volume to qualify for a BACTEC TB 460 instrument. This results in slower notification of tuberculosis (TB) cases to the county TB control officers.
