"Clinical and Demographic Characteristics of Tuberculosis in Madrid."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to The Lancet Conference 'The Challenge of Tuberculosis', held September 14-15, 1995, in Washington, D.C., "We describe the clinical and demographic patterns of new cases of tuberculosis diagnosed in the metropolitan area of Madrid, where rates of tuberculosis and HIV infection are high. A prospective study from October 1, 1993, to March 31, 1994, was done in cooperation with 6 centres (general hospitals) in Madrid. All patients (pts) with a positive culture for Mycobacterium tuberculosis were included and clinical and demographic data collected.
