New Approach to Genetic Immunization

A powerful new approach to genetic immunization promises to create highly effective vaccines for AIDS, tuberculosis, and other diseases.

The resulting vaccines have the potential for both prophylactic and therapeutic applications.

The method is called expression library cloning. This involves systematically breaking down the genome of a pathogen into segments that can be manipulated until the most immunogenic epitopes are found.
