Attack on Resurging Incidence of Tuberculosis Initiated

An attack to combat the resurging incidence of TB in the U.S. was recently initiated by the federal government and is to be spearheaded by IPRO, Long Island, New York.

"Evaluating Alternative Information Systems for Comprehensive Tuberculosis Surveillance," is a one-year pilot project directed by the federal Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) and under development by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and IPRO.

The overall goal of this initiative is to identify, through a method, individuals who have TB or those at risk who may not be detected through the traditional process of healthcare providers and institutions...
