Dr. Neil M.H. Graham and his colleagues prospectively followed a community-based cohort of 2,960 IDUs, 942 of whom were HIV positive. The subjects received twice-weekly isoniazid chemoprophylaxis. Graham documented the incidence of HIV related mycobacterial infection that occurred between 1988 and 1994 in all study subjects (Arch Intern Med 1996;156:889-894).
