"Molecular and Biochemical Characterization of Immunodominant 45/47 kDa Secreted Proteins of Mycobacterium tuberculosis: Potential Value for New Diagnostic Techniques."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Conference on Global Lung Health and the 1995 Annual Meeting of the IUATLD/UICTMR, held September 9-12, 1995, in Paris, France, "Protection against a challenge with virulent strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is induced only by a previous immunization with living attenuated mycobacteria, usually Mycobacterium bovis BCG. M. bovis BCG antigens of 45/47 kDa, present in culture filtrates, have been identified and purified on their ability to interact with antibodies of guinea pigs immunized with living but not with dead bacteria. Furthermore, these antigens were able to elicit potent DTH reaction in guinea pigs...
