"Multiplex PCR Specific for Multidrug-Resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis Strain W."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Conference on Global Lung Health and the 1995 Annual Meeting of the IUATLD/UICTMR, held September 9-12, 1995, in Paris, France, "In 1991, a multidrug-resistant strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis was isolated from eight persons with tuberculosis at a state correctional facility in New York. This strain, designated strain W (RFLP type 0212072), was resistant to isoniazid, rifampin, ethambutol, streptomycin, kanamycin, ethionamide, and rifabutin.
