"New TB Vaccines Prospected and Prostrated."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 22nd World Congress of Medical Technology, held June 23-28, 1996, in Oslo, Norway, "Tuberculosis (TB) is reemerging world wide. Control by chemotherapy is hampered with operational difficulties and the growing tide of multidrug resistance makes the future gloomy. BCG vaccine is effective in preventing primary TB in children, but has no impact on transmission in the society. The bulk of infectious TB cases are due to reactivation of latent TB acquired decades before its outbreak. There has been virtually no anti TB drug development during the last twenty years due to poor prospects of recovery of R&D investments. The same applies...
