Intestinal tuberculosis still remains the most common granulomatous disease of the bowel in India.
"A resurgence of tuberculosis has been witnessed in the Western countries, caused by increased infection with HIV and the recent wave of immigrants from the developing countries," researcher Virendra Singh and colleagues wrote ("Clinicocolonoscopic Profile of Colonic Tuberculosis," The American Journal of Gastroenterology, 1996;91(3):565-567).
