According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 36th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, held September 15-18, 1996, in New Orleans, Louisiana, "Aminoacyl tRNA synthetases are essential proteins that catalyze the covalent addition of amino acids onto their cognate tRNAs. Pseudomonic acid A is a potent inhibitor of Escherichia coli and other eubacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetases, but not of eukaryotic cytoplasmic isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase enzymes.
