TB Infection Universal in Tibetan Immigrants to Minnesota

Tuberculosis infection is nearly universal among Tibetans arriving in Minnesota, according to a report from the University of Minnesota.

The report was presented at the 36th meeting of the American Society for Microbiology's Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, held September 15-18, 1996 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"In order to better assess the risk of TB infection and active disease among the first group of Tibetan immigrants resettling in Minnesota, we conducted a study of all Tibetans who underwent TB screening between 1992 and 1994," researcher D.H. Truong et al. wrote.
