"Comparison of the BACTEC fluorescent 9000 MB System, Septi-Check AFB and Lowenstein-Jensen Medium for Detection of Mycobacteria."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 11th International Conference on AIDS, held July 7-12, 1996, in Vancouver, British Columbia, "The newly developed BACTEC fluorescent 9000 MB system (Becton Dickinson Diagnostic Instrument Systems, Sparks, Md.) for automated culture of mycobacteria was compared with the Septi-Check AFB system (SC) (Becton Dickinson) and Lowenstein-Jensen medium (LJ). A total of 2,005 clinical, mainly respiratory, specimens were included in the study.
