"Evaluation of E-Test for Susceptibility Testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacteria other than Tuberculosis."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 11th International Conference on AIDS, held July 7-12, 1996, in Vancouver, British Columbia, "The use of E-test (ET) strips was investigated for rifampin (rif), ethambutol (eth) and isoniazid (inh) by testing 17 clinical and 2 quality control M. tuberculosis (M.t.) strains and, for ethambutol, ciprofloxacin (cip) and clarithromycin (cla) by testing 21 clinical Mycobacteria other than tuberculosis (MOTT). M.t. isolates were selected with varying degrees of rifampin susceptibility (16 S and 3 R). ET was compared to the modified proportion agar dilution test.
