Gamma/Delta T Cell Numbers May Monitor Therapy

There is a significant increase in the total number and percentage of gamma/delta T cell receptors in the blood of patients with active tuberculosis, according to a report from Poland.

The report was delivered by researcher Robert M. Mroz and colleagues at the 1996 Clinical World Congress on Diseases of the Chest, held October 27-31 in San Francisco, California.

Mroz et al. evaluated the distribution of T cells expressing gamma/delta T cell receptor in the peripheral blood of 42 patients with different forms of pulmonary tuberculosis before and during treatment, as well as 20 patients with non-tuberculous infectious diseases, 14 cancer patients, and...
