World TB Day Scheduled for March 24, 1997

World TB Day, sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) Global TB Programme, has been scheduled for March 24, 1997.

The following was released by WHO:

"One of the most difficult hurdles faced today in combating the spreading global epidemic of tuberculosis (TB) is silence. Despite the resurgence of TB throughout the world, it is a scourge that receives far less attention than many threats to life that are far less widespread or virulent. Too many people remain largely unaware that TB is both readily contracted and easily cured, and are thus at risk.
