"Strip Immunoblot Assay (SIA) for Rapid Diagnosis of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held December 1-5, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, "Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), caused by Sin Nombre virus (SN) is fatal in 50%. Early diagnosis is the key to preventing mortality, but rapid field diagnosis is unavailable. We developed and evaluated a simple 5 hour membrane SIA for diagnosis of SN IgG antibodies (Ab).
