"Evaluation of Neutralizing Antibody Responses to NY-1 Hantavirus."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held December 1-5, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, "The NY-1 hantavirus is a genetically distinct strain of hantavirus which was isolated from Peromyscus leucopus and associated with Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) cases in New York. Adaptation of NY-1 virus to Vero E6 cells permitted the use of a focus reduction neutralization assay (FRN) for analyzing neutralizing antibodies to NY-1 virus elicited by patient sera and by hyperimmune sera generated to recombinant expressed NY-1 proteins.
