Researcher Rame A. Taha and colleagues suggested that interleukin 12 (IL-12) and interferon gamma (IFN-gamma) may be useful markers of tuberculosis activity ("IFN-gamma and IL-12 Are Increased in Active Compared with Inactive Tuberculosis," American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, April 1997;155:1135-1139).
