The CDC has received numerous calls regarding media reports of a supposed outbreak of meningitis due to the bacterium, Neisseria meningitidis, in the Dominican Republic. After consulting with responsible persons in the Pan American Health Organization and the Dominican Ministry of Health, the CDC reports that incidence has not increased.
