CDC Planning Cost Evaluation for NAA Testing

Studies evaluating the cost-effectiveness and operating characteristics of nucleic acid amplification tests when used in the diagnosis of tuberculosis are planned by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The CDC's Research and Evaluation Program (REB) plans to issue a request for contracts for the nucleic acid amplification (NAA) tests. In addition, sera from the studies will be contributed to a diagnostic specimen bank at the CDC to facilitate the evaluation of other new tests which might be developed in the future.
