Bank Approves US$87.4 Million for Communicable Disease Control In Indonesia

The Asian Development Bank approved a loan of US$87.4 million on June 19, 1997, to support an Indonesian health project.

Over 17 million people will benefit from the project, which will improve the delivery of health services in the Indonesian provinces of South Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, South Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara. Beneficiaries will include over 2 million children below five years old and 10 million young adults. Some 25,000 young adults with early-stage tuberculosis will be treated under the project.
