According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 3rd International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection, held November 3-7, 1996, in Birmingham, United Kingdom, "The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficiency of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) prophylaxis in prevention of toxoplasmic encephalitis (TE) according to therapeutic regimen and immunodeficiency level. Ninety-seven patients (22 women, 75 men in average age 35 y.) with mean CD4 level 83 cell/mm3 (range 0-197) hospitalized during last 36 months in AIDS Diagnosis and Therapy Center in Warsaw were studied.
