According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 8th European congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, held May 25-28, 1997, in Lausanne, Switzerland, "Objectives: Prospective study of testing of clinical samples for M. tuberculosis (Mt) complex organisms using two gene amplification methods. Methods: 86 clinical specimens (27 respiratory and 59 extrapulmonary specimens) from 69 parents were tested for the presence of Mt complex by rRNA amplification (Gee-Probe Amplified Mt Direct Test [AMTD]) and PCR (Roche Amplicor Mt Test [Amplicor PCR]).
