Which Multicomponent Vaccine? CDC Has Selection Algorithm

Already bewildering, childhood vaccination schedules will become vastly more complex as new vaccine products become available.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) proposes to simplify the situation with a complex algorithm.

"As one can see from Vaccine Weekly and other publications, there has been a veritable explosion in biotechnology products," said Bruce Weniger, assistant chief for vaccine development at the CDC's National Immunization Program. "By 1998 or 1999, a whole raft of combination vaccines will become available."
